Generally, 4WD vehicles can only be driven on recognised sealed tracks.
Exceptions can be made for some areas, however, permission is usually required in advance especially for any off-road areas.
In addition to unsealed roads, companies may restrict certain roads or trails with a reputation for being rough or rugged. If you take your vehicle into an area that is restricted you will be liable for all damages and in some cases will also have to pay a fine.
If unsure about a certain area, it’s best to contact the rental company in advance.
For 4WD vehicles, a daily mileage allowance usually applies (around 300 km), thereafter additional fees will apply.
The comparison tool will show you which vehicles have unlimited kilometres and which have restricted mileage. Consult the rental agreement of the supplier for further details.
Note: policies vary from supplier to supplier. Always check the T&Cs for your rental.
