Where can I camp in Alaska?

As in the rest of the US, free camping is allowed in designated areas, which can include: state parks, national parks, truck stops and other car parks, with permission from the shop owner.

Alaska benefits from a range of campgrounds and campervan parks, which are relatively affordable, starting at $20 per night.

Is one-way rental possible in Alaska?

Yes, several brands have depots in major locations throughout Alaska. For smaller places, such as Seward or Fairbanks, there may be a limited selection available.

Some brands will allow you to pick up a camper in Alaska and drop it off in another state, or even in Canada. Check the comparison tool to see if one-way rental is available with your chosen dates and destinations.

Does my motorhome come with unlimited mileage?

The majority of campervan rental suppliers in the US do not offer unlimited miles as a standard rental inclusion.

In most cases, miles (kilometres) are capped at a daily rate, and additional fees will be incurred if you exceed the limit. Additional miles can usually also be prepurchased in packages ranging from 100 miles up to unlimited. However, any remaining miles will not be refunded when the vehicle is returned.

Can I travel from the US to Canada in my rental campervan?

This depends on the company. Several rental suppliers will allow you to travel to Canada in your rental vehicle, including Apollo, El Monte, Jucy, Campervan North America, Travellers Autobarn, Escape Rentals and Cruise America.

Can I rent a campervan in the US if I’m under 21?

Most campervan rental suppliers in the USA require the main driver to be 21 years of age or older. A full driver’s licence is required.
